Our Year in Photos

Our Daily Life: Ringing in the 20's | May 2020

May 2020..

I remember this was when what felt like “survival mode” at home with the pandemic began. The reality set in that COVID-19 was going to be around for a while and I was beginning to grow weary.. missing my friends and family, overwhelmed with trying to work from home while homeschooling.. The pictures I took this month were mostly very quick snapshots because even though I was exhausted, I wanted to keep clicking. I knew I would regret stopping.

Like a lot of people, I started to plan a larger garden last year.. I knew it would give me something to do at home (outside of being a mom :)) and it would also provide more fresh homegrown food, which was nice to look forward to. We enjoyed many delicious tomato sandwiches and strawberries last summer!

Sometimes I don’t know why I am sharing these private photos with you all.. they are probably only really special to me. Most of them are very mundane day to day photos of the kids. However, I continue to share them because I hope that they will inspire you to take mundane, candid photos of your family. Looking back, they’re always my favorite and only get better with time.

Here is our May 2020.

Cups of cheerios, crayons, legos, and holding you tight.

Don’t grow up too fast, baby.

Dimpled hands holding mine and squeezing my legs when I walk through the door.

These are the days that are sometimes wished away when they are hard.. but surely it will be harder and more painful to be missing them.. when you’re grown.

So I just keep clicking and hoping it’s enough to preserve these details. Your giggles, your laughter, your smallness.

These photos are my love letters to you.
