Dancing at sunset and lots of laughing, does it get any better?!

I really enjoyed this sunset session with these two. After the session, Manuela and I talked about photography and lenses until it was dark! I guess this means we need to have a coffee date to talk shop! She is in the process of getting a new lens to take photos of the products she makes for her business, Uponaworld Cosmetics. Manuela is my sister-in-law and also the owner of Uponaworld Cosmetics where she makes amazing, creamy vegan soaps and make up!

Columbus Ohio Photographer | Family Session Location Scouting

Hi friends!

A few days ago, I reached out to you all on facebook asking for locations that had a grassy field I could use for family shoots this year. Well, I think we have a winner.. last night we kept our little one up a little late and headed over to High Banks Metropark at sunset. It was an area of the park I had not visited before and I am so glad someone pointed us in this direction! It was exactly what I was looking for. Tall, wild grass, a few trees and the perfect sunset light.

The photos below show why I LOVE shooting about an hour before sunset. See that orange glow in the photos? Yeah, that won't happen at 2 in the afternoon.

A lot of my families have young children or babies so sunset usually isn't their happiest hour, but if you can, try to have your kids take a longer or later nap that day or eat dinner a little later than normal. I know schedules are EVERYTHING with kids but trust me, heading out for photos at sunset is something you will not regret.

These photos were taken to scout the location surroundings and light so there are a lot of bloopers, which I think is hilarious.. and I couldn't help but share them anyways! I am so excited for family sessions this year! Bring me all the families!
